Hello! I am Sameer Halai, an information designer, social engineer, information analyst, paraglider, Second Life enthusiast, best friend, Family Guy fan, and although I don't do much with it anymore, a software engineer.
Currently I am a graduate student (MS) at the University of
Michigan
School of
Information
(class of May '08) specializing in Human Computer
Interaction (HCI
) and Social Computing (SC
). I have a solid base in
programming, but I have shifted focus to designing the user experience
and working on social networking and Computer Supported Cooperative Work(CSCW). I keep myself updated to latest stuff
like AJAX and SLScripting. In the past, I have worked
with Amdocs
as a User Experience Designer working on extending the core
product to be more user friendly. To justify my technical twist, I
graduated with a Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering from the
University of
Mumbai

I have so much going on in life, yet I chose to have a Second
Life
where I bounce around the virtual world with my alter ego. I generally
work on building my school's community area
but I am often moving
around exploring, studying and designing experiences. I am also extremely interested in Social Networking websites like Facebook, Orkut and MySpace. The Michigan Daily recently interviewed me about this.
I like geocaching
and I also am an avid paraglider!
It has something to do with the freedom of soaring above the rest and escaping from it all.
I love listening to music and according to Last.fm 
is my
current favorite artist and 
is my overall favorite artist.
